Europe: Favored Execute wins

Alan Shuback|Apr 01, 2002

Execute defeated Sunstarch in the Group 2 Prix d'Harcourt at Longchamp at odds of 2.80-1 and will go next in the Group 1 Prix Ganay at the same track on April 28.

Trained by John Hammond and ridden by Thierry Gillet, Execute - a 5-year-old son of Suave Dancer - won by three-quarters of a length, running the 1 1/4 miles on soft ground in a clocking of 2:03.50. A half-brother to Glorious Linda, herself an 11-time winner in California, Execute had won his only previous start this season at Compiegne.

On the same card, Thompson Rouge took the 1 5/16-mile listed Prix de Courcelles for 3-year-olds, and Ange Gabriel won the 1 1/2-mile listed Prix Lord Seymour.
