Euro K Shotgun, Hyper Drive win Oklahoma Stallion Stakes divisions

Mary Rampellini|Sep 17, 2016

Euro K Shotgun remained undefeated in two starts when she held on for a head win over Another Bond Girl in the fillies’ division of the $50,000 Oklahoma Stallion Stakes on Friday night at Remington Park. Euro K Shotgun was the 2-5 favorite one start after she dominated a maiden special weight in her career debut in August.

Remington put on two divisions of the Oklahoma Stallion Stakes. Both were for 3-year-olds by nominated stallions. In the $50,000 open division, Hyper Drive ($16.20) rallied for a one-length win over Tuff Kid.

Euro K Shotgun ($2.80) broke from the rail and was pressed from the start, setting fractions of 22.70 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.86 for the half-mile. She proceeded to cover seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:22.63.

Luis Quinonez was aboard for C.R. Trout, who bred, owns, and trains Euro K Shotgun. The filly is by Euroears. She is a half-sister to Shotgun Kowboy, the winner of last year’s Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby.

Hyper Drive trailed the field early as Welder was clear through fractions of 22.96 seconds for the opening quarter and 46.14 for the half-mile. Hyper Drive moved to the fore in the stretch and went on to cover seven furlongs in 1:23.08.

David Cabrera was aboard for Henry Thilmony and trainer Randy Oberlander. Hyper Drive is by Don’t Get Mad.
