Louis Herrmann Jr., a longtime member of the Churchill Downs board of directors and the grandson of the legendary Churchill executive Col. Matt Winn, died Tuesday in Louisville at age 86. Herrmann began serving on the Churchill board in 1968 and was a director emeritus at the time of his death. . . . Charles Wheeler Jr., the former executive director of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, has been named as the new facility manager at Saratoga. Wheeler will replaces George Hathaway, who is retiring at the end of the meet after working as a New York Racing Association employee for 32 years.
