Walter Medio, a leading trainer at Atlantic City Race Course in the 1980's and 1990's who trained Plain All Over, the New Jersey-bred 2-year-champion filly of 1989, died Saturday of complications from cancer at age 77 in New Jersey, according to his former assistant trainer, Dawn Lefevre. Services were scheduled for Tuesday at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home in Vineland, N.J. . . . Richard Hart, the founder of a company called International Players Associates who was indicted last year with 16 other individuals on gambling-related charges, changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on one count of wire fraud at a hearing on Thursday in U.S. District Court in New York, according to court records. An employee of IPA, Jonathan Broome, was sentenced the same day to one year of probation on an identical wire-fraud charge in the case, said by prosecutors to involve members of the Gambino organized crime family.
