Hubert "Whitey" Schweickhardt, who for 20 years greeted hundreds of media members working the Kentucky Derby as the head of press box security at Churchill Downs, died Saturday in Louisville, Ky. He was 82. . . . Atticus Kristy rallied from off the pace to win the 10th race on Tuesday at Tampa Bay Downs and break the track record for five furlongs on turf, finishing in 55.02 seconds. The old record of 55.74 seconds was set Jan. 9.
