The Katrina Invitational Jockey Challenge raised $25,168 Thursday night at The Meadowlands to benefit Louisiana horsemen. Louisiana riders Kent Desormeaux, Craig Perret, Mark Guidry, and Eddie Martin Jr. rode in a race against Gary Stevens, Aaron Gryder, Joe Bravo, Edgar Prado, and Stewart Elliott, raising $12,378 in donated riding fees and commissions, the track added $10,000, and fans and horsemen gave $2,790. . . . The Indiana Racing Commission gave approval Thursday to a schedule of 110 days of Thoroughbred racing for 2006. Indiana Downs will hold a 49-day meet from April 21 through June 28, and Hoosier Park will race 61 days between Sept. 2 and Nov. 25. . . . Joyeux Danseur, winner of the Grade 1 Turf Classic at Churchill Downs in 1998 and the sire of 65 winners, died Tuesday at age 12 from a ruptured cecum at Wattle Brae Stud in Australia. A son of Nureyev, Joyeux Danseur stood three seasons at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky before moving to California, then Arkansas, then Australia last year. . . . Suffolk Downs has added three days, Nov. 21-23, to the end of its meeting to make up for cancellations earlier this season. The meet had been scheduled to end Nov. 19 . . . Jockey John Davila Jr. rode the 2,000th winner of his career Friday when Hold that Glitter ($3.20) won the fourth race at Finger Lakes. Davila, 42, has won three straight Finger Lakes riding titles. . . . The New York Racing Association's track photographer, Adam Coglianese, became a father Thursday when his wife, Donna, gave birth to a 7-pound, 3 1/2-ounce baby boy, Ethan Blake Coglianese.
