Sam Houston Race Park planned to cancel simulcasting Thursday, Friday, and Saturday because of Hurricane Rita threatening the Texas coast. Delta Downs in Vinton, La., will be closed for simulcasting Friday through Sunday because of the storm. . . . The Louisiana Racing Commission will hold its next meeting Sept. 30 at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, La. The meeting originally had been scheduled for Aug. 29, but was postponed when Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, the commission's headquarters. The rescheduled meeting's main topic is to settle the details necessary in order to hold an abbreviated Fair Grounds meet at Louisiana Downs.
