Christine C. White, who had served as Michigan's interim racing commissioner since Jan. 1, has been formally appointed to the post by Gov. Jennifer Granholm for a term to expire Jan. 1, 2008. White had previously been deputy director of Michigan's Department of Agriculture. . . . Jockey Dyn Panell won his 1,000th race Wednesday at Suffolk Downs aboard Mike's Greenfields in the fourth race. Panell had finished first in the second race but was disqualified to third for interference.
