Shawn Swartz will retain his position as Turf Paradise racing secretary after Dan Eidson, the stakes coordinator at Hollywood Park who originally signed on to take over for the upcoming season, backed off. The Turf Paradise meeting begins Sept. 30, with stall applications due Aug. 1. . . . Fidelis O'Donnell, widow of Leo G. O'Donnell and an avid racing fan, died Sunday in Louisville, Ky., at age 99. Leo O'Donnell worked at a wide range of racetracks throughout North America for nearly 70 years as a trainer and racing official.
