Royal Ascot will extend its 2002 meet from four to five days, June 18-June 22, as part of the Golden Jubilee to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's 50th anniversary on the throne. In 2003, Royal Ascot will revert to a four-day schedule. . . . Jockey Jerry Bailey will donate 5 percent of his earnings from the World Thoroughbred Championships to two charities for victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The money will go to the Garden City (N.Y.) Family Relief Fund and the Floral Park (N.Y.) Family Relief Fund. . . . Centaur Racing, a minority partner in Hoosier Park in Indiana, announced Wednesday that it had reached an agreement to purchase an additional 15 percent of Hoosier from Churchill Downs, the track's majority partner, for $4.5 million. The sale is contingent on approval of the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, which last year placed a four-year moratorium on Centaur increasing its ownership after ruling that Centaur failed to disclose information about a previous deal to purchase 26 percent of the track. . . . A $304,500 Kahyasi colt topped the second session Wednesday at the five-day Tattersalls yearling sale in Newmarket, England. The session sold 212 lots for an average price of $47,246, down 17 percent from last year; together, the first two sessions have sold 398 lots for an average $35,876.
