Etc. . . .

DRF Staff|Apr 29, 2005

Makybe Diva, the two-time Melbourne Cup winner, looks to be in a tough spot Sunday in the $2.42 million Spring Tenno Sho, or Emperors Cup. The two-mile, Grade 1 race is the same distance as the Melbourne Cup, but Makybe Diva's dull eighth in the listed 1 1/4-mile April Stakes at Nakayama on April 10 proves just how difficult it is to beat the Japanese on their home ground. . . . With two victories Tuesday and two more Thursday night, Fairmount Park jockey Mike Gale reached the 2,000 win milestone. . . . . Prairie Meadows will introduce a 50-cent-minimum on its two daily pick fours beginning on May 3. The track will also will offer a "quick-pick" version of the bet with computer-generated random selections.
