Beckys Shirt, the dam of the 2003 Breeders' Cup Sprint winner, Cajun Beat, died earlier this month at Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky. A 14-year-old daughter of Cure the Blues, Beckys Shirt reportedly died while delivering a Storm Cat colt, which survived. . . . Scoop the Gold, the dam of three-time Grade 1 winner High Yield, died Sunday. The cause of death was reported to be a ruptured aorta. . . . Jay Privman of Daily Racing Form and Scott Garceau of WMAR-TV in Baltimore have been named winners of the Old Hilltop Award by The Maryland Jockey Club for "their many years of distinguished coverage of racing." The MJC also honored Dick Jerardi for a feature in the Philadelphia Daily News about Smarty Jones, Reuters photographer Gary Hershorn, and jockey Jerry Bailey.
