Nash Rawiller, the Australian jockey who rode Elvstroem to victory in the Dubai Duty Free Saturday, has been fined $5,000 by the the Emirates Racing Association for wearing spurs during the race. Association stewards said Rawiller must have affixed them between leaving the weighing room and the start of the race but found "no intent to circumvent the rules" in wearing the spurs, which are allowed in Australia, Hong Kong, and Macau but banned in the United Arab Emirates as well as in the United States and Britain. . . . Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association have settled a lawsuit brought by the horsemen's group last year over the horsemen's share of sponsorship revenue for races. Officials for the two groups declined to provide details of the settlement.
