Claiborne stallion Unbridled, who underwent abdominal surgery on Sept. 21 and 27, remains bright and alert despite a complication that has shut down his bowel, according to Gus Koch, manager of Claiborne. "On Monday he had a lot of pain, and Dr. [Doug] Byars discovered he had a lot of fluid in his stomach and intestine," Koch said, adding that "they drained that this morning. . . and it can take two to three days to resolve." . . . The Jockey Club of Canada has announced that the deadline for submissions for the 2001 Sovereign Awards media categories - newspaper article, feature story, photograph, and film/broadcast video - is Wednesday, Oct. 31. Nominations must be have Canadian Thoroughbred racing or breeding content and have been published or aired between Nov. 1, 2000, and Oct. 31, 2001.
