David Flores, Casey Lambert, Richard Migliore, Ray Sibille, and Rick Wilson are the finalists for the 2005 George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award, with the winner to be announced next month. The award, voted on by members of the Jockeys' Guild and other riders, is presented to jockeys who have brought distinction to themselves and the sport. . . . Trainer Anthony Hemmerick, who most recently had maintained a stable at Calder, died Wednesday night at age 75 in a Hollywood, Fla., hospital after having a stomach aneurysm. Hemmerick is survived by his wife, Vivian, two sons from a previous marriage, and a stepson. . . . Jockey Frank Alvarado enjoyed one of the best days of his career Wednesday at Golden Gate Fields, winning with all five of his mounts. The feat boosted Alvarado's victory total to 13 and put him in a tie for second place in the Golden Gate rider standings with Roberto Gonzalez, 15 behind Russell Baze. . . . New York sire Precise End, who has gotten 12 winners from 28 starters in his first crop this year, has been sold to Japanese interests by Thomas-Lakin LLC and Richard Simon of Sez Who Thoroughbreds. The deal will send Precise End from Lakland North in upstate New York to Hidaka Stallion Station in Japan. . . . Northern Spur, 1995 champion turf horse and winner of that year's Breeders' Cup Turf, and 1994 champion older male The Wicked North have relocated to True North Farm in Versailles, Ky. Northern Spur, who moves from Longfield Farm in Goshen, Ky., will stand for $3,500, while The Wicked North moves from New York's The Stallion Park and will have a $2,500 fee.
