Evangeline Downs will move simulcast operations to its new site in Opelousas, La., on Monday, with the Sunday the final day of simulcasting at its old site near Lafayette. Evangeline, which operates a slots casino, will begin racing at the new site in 2005. . . . Roberto Villafan, who went to Hoosier Park this week after a boycott left 14 riders banned from the grounds, rode four winners on Thursday's card. Two came for leading trainer Ralph Martinez. . . . Leon Shlofrock, an Illinois Racing Board member for the last five years, submitted his resignation from the board on Friday. Shlofrock, 84 and receiving dialysis treatments, said he was leaving the board "because of health concerns and business challenges.". . . A education fund has been created to benefit Patrick Myer, the 14-year-old son of the late Pat Myer, a former steeplechase jockey and trainer who died in July at age 61.
