Magna Entertainment Corp. has finalized the sale of Great Lakes Downs to Richmond Racing Inc., a company owned by Jack Brothers, a bloodstock advisor to a farm owned by Magna's chairman, Frank Stronach. The sale will allow Magna to apply for a license for a yet-to-be-built track near Detroit, and Magna will continue to operate Great Lakes in a lease-back deal with Richmond. . . . Sandra Rasmussen, a leading Thoroughbred breeder in Iowa for the past eight years, has been named winner of this year's Good Samaritan Award by the Prairie Meadows Chaplaincy. The award, given for work benefiting backside workers, cited an educational center founded by the Rasmussen family at Prairie Meadows.
