Raymond "Butch" Cook has been named director of Thoroughbred racing for Hoosier Park in Anderson, Ind. Cook, the assistant Thoroughbred racing secretary at Hoosier since 2000, replaces Warren Groce, who has left Hoosier after nine years for a similar position with Evangeline Downs. . . . Training was scheduled to open at Suffolk Downs this weekend after a three-week delay to repair a sinkhole, and the track plans to open on schedule on May 1. It took work crews 11 days to replace a collapsed pipe and fill in the main track.
