Fritz Engel, a prominent Nebraska auctioneer who was involved in Thoroughbred racing for several decades, died Monday at his home in Clarks, Neb., at age 71. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and three sons. . . . The Breeders' Cup will host a charity event on Friday, Oct. 29, at the Fort Worth, Texas, zoo, with proceeds benefiting the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation and a Texas Wildlife conservation fund.
