Douglas L. Brunk and Stacy Van Horn, two Nebraska veterinarians who were ruled off state racetracks until Jan. 1, 2006, because of medication violations, will be allowed to reapply for licenses on July 1 after a District Court judge ruled the state racing commission had insufficient evidence to prove they administered clonidine to horses on raceday. The racing commission has until the end of June to decide if the decision will be appealed. . . . Richard W. Shockey Jr., who for many years owned and trained horses at the Charles Town Races in West Virginia, died Thursday at age 81. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W. Va. . . . "The HDNet Horse Racing Challenge," a five-week racing series shot at Lone Star Park is scheduled to premiere Sunday on HDNet, a high-definition television network, and is expected to soon be picked up by HorseRacing TV. Each two-hour program will tie a day's races into an ongoing competition between three trainers, jockeys and horseplayers. . . . Live racing was canceled at State Fair Park in Lincoln, Neb., about 50 minutes before the scheduled first post on Thursday evening because of poor track conditions. Rain had fallen all day in Lincoln and riders considered the track unsafe.
