The Minnesota Racing Commission has approved Canterbury Park's request for a 63-day meet, to run from May 16 through Labor Day, Sept. 1. Highlights of the meet include the July 19 Claiming Crown, which returns to Canterbury after being held at Philadelphia Park last year; the $100,000 Lady Canterbury, for fillies and mares on turf, which returns after a four-year absence; and the $325,000 Minnesota Festival of Champions for statebreds. . . . Turfway Park in Florence, Ky., canceled its Thursday night card because of thawing-out track conditions after the temperature in the region rose into the 50's.
