Led by the $55,000 Ogygian mare Gaye's Locket, Fasig-Tipton Kentucky's one-day December mixed auction Monday sold 140 head for $946,700, up 78 percent from last year, when 121 lots sold. The average price rose 54 percent to $6,762, and the median climbed 17 percent to $3,500, but the buy-back rate was 41 percent, up from last year's 28 percent. . . . Nick Zito plans to appeal to a higher court a suspension and fine for a positive drug test more than two years ago, the trainer told the New York Post.
