Veteran jockey Shane Sellers, riding in a race for the first time in more than a year, guided Global Attraction to a fourth-place finish in the second race Wednesday at Keeneland. Sellers, a former leading rider at Keeneland and other major tracks, had not ridden since last summer at Arlington Park, where he cut short a comeback from a major knee injury in December 2000. . . . William Anzer, a noted Cincinnati sportswriter and publicist, died Saturday at age 76 from pneumonia. Anzer, who wrote for the Cincinnati Enquirer for 25 years, is survived by his wife, Joann; three sons, William Jr., Nicholas, and Anthony; and a daughter, Kristina. . . . Magna Entertainment closed its purchase of Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Wednesday, in a transaction valued at $99 million. Magna received approval to operate the track at a Texas Racing Commission meeting last week.
