Taylor Made stallion Saint Ballado is in the Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky., to undergo surgery after a diagnosis of cervical compressive myelopathy, a condition in which the bones of the spinal column press on the spinal cord. A 13-year-old Halo horse, Saint Ballado began showing signs of uncoordination earlier this month, and the condition was detected after a myelogram. Taylor Made does not expect him to miss any of the 2003 breeding season, which opens in February.
