Festival of Light, the 2001 horse of the year in Dubai, has been retired from racing and will enter stud next year in Texas at Valor Farm in Pilot Point. He will stand for $4,000, live foal guaranteed, as the property of Darley Stud Management. . . . Evangeline Downs will host a benefit for Randy Romero on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 6 p.m. to midnight. The event will consist of dinner, dancing, a live auction, and a raffle, with all proceeds going toward medical expenses for Romero, who needs kidney and liver transplants.
