A party last Friday at the Kentucky Derby Museum netted $101,000 for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, a nonprofit racehorse rescue and retirement organization. Benefits from the dinner and live and silent auctions will go to the care and feeding of horses residing at farms throughout the U.S., including primary facilities in Kentucky, New York, Florida, and Maryland. . . . As of 5 p.m., a $310,000 Double Honor colt was leading Tuesday's opening session at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's June two-day auction of 2-year-olds and horses of racing age in Ocala, Fla. William Condren purchased the colt, a son of Camptown (by Carr de Naskra), from Farnsworth Farms, agent. . . . Fasig-Tipton has expanded its preferred New York-bred yearling sale in Saratoga Springs to two days, Aug. 11 and 12. A record 185 yearlings prompted the change in format. . . . Five real estate developers and businessmen based in northern Louisiana will make up the group purchasing Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La. Jim Davis, a Shreveport, La., attorney, heads the group, which includes E.R. Campbell III and his brother Christopher Campbell, John Turner, and William Windham, all of whom are currently undergoing background checks by the Louisiana State Police. . . . Cathy Marino, who has worked in the customer services department of the New York Racing Association since 1983, was promoted to vice president of customer services, it was announced Sunday.
