Trainer Don Mularkey, a fixture at Canterbury Park since it opened in 1985, died Saturday from massive head injuries suffered in a fall the previous week. Mularkey, 42, was instrumental in the campaign of Jest for a Trucker, Canterbury's 1996 Horse of the Meet. . . . Dr. Rick Arthur, a California-based veterinarian, and Kent Stirling, the executive director of the Florida Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, have joined the National Thorough-bred Racing Association's Drug-Testing Task Force, the NTRA said Monday. Arthur has replaced co-chair Dr. Jack Robbins, and Stirling has replaced founding member Bill Walmsley, the NTRA said. . . . Fort Erie canceled the last three races on its 10-race card on Saturday after an off-site auto accident led to a major power failure at the racetrack and in the surrounding area.
