Woodbine's 10-race card on Friday was canceled after the second race because of winds up to 30 mph. The track planned to resume racing Saturday. . . . The Massachusetts legislature shot down a bill that would legalize slot machines at racetracks on Thursday by a vote of 94-58. Legislators passed a bill, however, that sets up a 17-member committee to study the possibility of expanding gambling in the state. . . . Robert "Fireman Bob" Ciskoski, a retired Chicago firefighter who was an avid horseplayer and sometime publicity assistant at various racetracks, died Thursday of heart failure in Florida at age 52. Ciskoski's ashes will be spread at Churchill Downs and Hawthorne.
