Sam Houston Race Park has asked the Texas Racing Commission for an additional four race dates in March, all on Mondays. The dates would make up for two lost because of inclement weather and give the track a chance to test the simulcast market on Mondays, with a proposed day post of 1:20 p.m. Central. . . . Jockey Jeremy Rose won the 2,000th race of his career by guiding Cherokee Queen ($6) to victory in Thursday's third race at Gulfstream Park. Rose, 30, is best known for his victories aboard Afleet Alex in the 2005 Preakness and Belmont.
