The 12th running of the Claiming Crown has been scheduled for July 24 at Canterbury Park, the Minnesota track that has hosted nine of the 11 previous running of the event. The Claiming Crown consists of six races with total purses of $500,000, highlighted by the $150,000 Jewel, a 1 1/8-mile race for horses who have started for a claiming price of $35,000 or less since Jan. 1, 2009. . . . Angliana, a multiple-graded-placed stakes winner, has retired to owner Mike Grossman's Eureka Thoroughbred Farm in Fredericksburg, Texas, and will stand his initial season for $1,500. Angliana is an 8-year-old Giant's Causeway horse out of the Grade 3 winner and $459,622 earner Pratella, by Jade Hunter, and a half-brother to stakes-placed De Roode.
