Kyle Williams, who worked for a number of racing publications, died Sunday morning in Pensacola, Fla., at age 50. Williams, the son of retired Daily Racing Form correspondent Claude Williams, went to work for the Form at Santa Anita in 1985 after serving in the U.S. Navy for four years and later was employed by the Louisiana Horse magazine, Backstretch Magazine, the Fair Grounds publicity department, and the Washington Horse. A memorial service is planned for Saturday in Hammond, La. . . . Trainer Jonathan Nance set a Portland Meadows record by winning 6 of the 9 races on Wednesday. Nance, who spent the day at the Keeneland sale in Lexington, Ky., won the first three races and the sixth, seventh, and eighth races.
