Ronald "Tex" Cauthen, father of Hall of Fame rider Steve Cauthen, died at his Walton, Ky., home on Monday at age 77. Cauthen, a renowned racetrack farrier, and his wife, Myra Bischoff, a trainer and owner, were the parents of three sons - Steve, Doug, and Kerry - all of whom followed them into the horse business. . . . Immerse, the dam of Grade 1 winner and sire Stephen Got Even, was euthanized May 14 in New York after developing post-foaling complications. Oaklawn Park has promoted John Hopkins to plant superintendent and Jason Milligan to director of operations.
