The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation will celebrate its 20th anniversary and honor board members Dr. Gary Lavin and Dr. Larry Bramlage at a fundraiser on Oct. 16 at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, Ky., featuring Texas swing band Asleep at the Wheel. The $613,406 wagered on the featured Classic was the largest single-race handle in the West Virginia track's 75-year history. . . . Basil Bardakjy, a former owner-breeder and more recently a state steward in Florida, died this week at age 80 following a long illness. Viewing is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Vista Funeral Home in Miami Lakes, Fla.
