Ronald E. "Red" Stroter, a longtime trainer and trainer's assistant on the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York circuits, died at age 55 on Feb. 2 of cancer. Stroter worked for trainer David Vance in the 1970's and 1980's and at one time trained horses for Dick Allen, the Philadelphia Phillies baseball player. . . . Dual Grade 3 winner Biogio's Rose, who earned more than $790,000 in her racing career, produced her first foal, a Lemon Drop Kid filly, on Feb. 3. Alfred and Joseph Nastasi bred the filly in a partnership with Will Farish, whose Lane's End Farm in Kentucky stands first-year sire Lemon Drop Kid. . . . Anthony Stroud, former racing manager for Sheikh Mohammed al Maktoum, will take over the bloodstock division of the British Bloodstock Agency, according to the Racing Post. The rest of the publicly traded agency, which includes stallion and transport departments, will be renamed Newmarket Investments and seek non-racing opportunities.
