Edgar Allen, the former director of publicity at Churchill Downs, died Wednesday of complications of Alzheimer's disease and pneumonia in his hometown of Nashville at age 84. Allen, a longtime sportswriter for the now-defunct Nashville Banner, worked for 10 years at Churchill, starting in 1979. . . .
