Regular and open nominations for the 10th annual Claiming Crown close Friday. The seven-race $600,000 Claiming Crown series will be run Aug. 2 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn. Stampede Park, which halted its card after five races on Friday and canceled its Saturday and Sunday cards because of severe winter-like weather, called off Wednesday's card following a Monday morning meeting between track management, the local Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, and Horse Racing Alberta, which governs the sport in the province. A double draw for the scheduled Friday and Saturday programs is to be conducted on Wednesday morning.
