Registration for the Online Kick-Off qualifying tournament for the 2009 Daily Racing Form/National Thoroughbred Racing Association National Handicapping Championship will open Feb. 29 for the March 1 contest, whose top three finishers will earn berths to the championship finals. Samuel Martin, who worked for Calumet Stable and Rokeby Stable and was stable foreman for Greentree Stable with trainer Bob Reinacher, died on Jan. 16 at age 77. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Martin; two sons, Kenneth and Harold Martin; a daughter, Stephanie Martin; his brother, Hubert Martin; and a granddaughter.
