Retired jockey G.P. Jeep Ryan, who rode in Ohio and Kentucky from the late 1940s through the mid-1960s before briefly coming out of retirement in 1991, died Monday in his hometown of Amelia, Ohio, of complications from a stroke. He was 78. . . . Vaudeville, winner of he Grade 1 Secretariat and Grade 2 American Derby at Arlington, was euthanized Feb. 16 at Hidden Springs Ranch near Yarnell, Ariz., reportedly due to bone ailments in his forelegs. A 16-year-old son of Theatrical, he had recently moved there from Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in California. . . . . Magna Entertainment Corp., the largest racetrack operator in the United States, filed a shelf registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission that will allow the company to sell up to $500 million in stock or warrants, the company announced on Wednesday. The terms of any of the offerings would be established at the time Magna decided to offer any of the securities covered by the statement. . . . Magna will record a $59.7 million writedown on its casino and racetrack in Ebriechsdorf, Austria, during the fourth quarter of 2006 because the property has continued post operating losses that resulted in an impairment charge under accounting rules. Magna will announce its 2006 results on Feb. 27.
