Vicar, the winner of the 1999 Florida Derby who has stood at Darby Dan Farm since his retirement, has been sold to the KRA Stud and Training Farm in South Korea, according to an announcement by Thomas Clark Bloodstock, the Lexington, Ky., company that brokered the sale. Vicar, who stood for $10,000 in 2006 as the property of a syndicate, joins Menifee, Volponi, and Yankee Victor as recent North American-bred stallions who have been purchased by the KRA Stud, which also operates two racetracks in South Korea. . . . Michigan racing commissioner Christine White has granted a request from Great Lakes Downs to cancel the final scheduled two days of its 2006 meeting, Nov. 6 and 7. The request, which had the support of the Michigan Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association, cited declining wagering and overpayment of the purse pool as reasons for cancellation.
