Eswan Flores taken off mounts, to be tested by CHRB
DEL MAR, Calif. – Jockey Eswan Flores was taken off his two mounts on Sunday by Del Mar’s stewards, a day after Flores did not show up for his scheduled mounts and then later, through his agent, informed the stewards he was ill.
Flores on Sunday morning met with stewards Scott Chaney, Kim Sawyer, and Tom Ward and was ordered to be tested by the California Horse Racing Board.
“He showed up this morning and still claims to not feel well and, quite frankly, he didn’t look well,” Chaney said Sunday. “We ordered him to test with the CHRB, and go to first aid for an examination. How we go forward depends on the results of those things.”
Flores is named on two horses on Wednesday, one of whom is on the also-eligible list.
