Error by wagering providers results in partial refund of Santa Anita $1 pick six pool
ARCADIA, Calif. - A portion of Saturday’s $1 pick six pool at Santa Anita was refunded after two leading account wagering providers – TVG and TwinSpires – erroneously offered the bet with a 20-cent minimum.
According to track general manager Nate Newby, approximately $80,000 was refunded to bettors who bought tickets through those account wagering systems in 20-cent increments. The final pool was $160,055 after refunds.
Bets placed for $1 increments were honored, including a $288 ticket worth $85,506 bought through the Xpressbet account wagering system. The $288 ticket was the only one with six winners.
“Those wagers stayed in the pool,” Newby said. “The 20-cent bets got removed before it went official. It was a tote issue.”
Newby said tote officials were “triple-checking” that the same situation did not happen on Sunday.
Santa Anita began offering a $1 pick six at the start of the current meeting on Sept. 29, after seven years of offering a 20-cent Rainbow pick six.
