Eramia to give Oaklawn Park a shot

Jockey Richard Eramia said that after the Remington Park meet ends Dec. 17 he will base at Oaklawn Park, which opens in January. Eramia, who ranks second in the standings at Remington Park, said it will be the first time he has ridden a full meet at Oaklawn.
“I want to stay around here, Lone Star, Remington and Oaklawn,” said Eramia, who lives near Dallas.
Eramia, 38, has won multiple riding titles in his native Uruguay and is a five-time title winner at Louisiana Downs. He won this year’s title at Lone Star Park and has wintered at Delta Downs and Fair Grounds. Eramia said he plans to be at Oaklawn the first week in January.
Ramon Vazquez is the leading rider at Remington and a regular at Oaklawn.
Iram Diego, who is fifth in the standings at Remington, said he is seriously considering basing at Oaklawn. He would be riding there on a regular basis for the first time in many years. Diego is a two-time title winner at Sam Houston and he has finished second in the standings during the last two meets at Lone Star. Diego, 37, is a resident of Ft. Worth, Texas.
