Equine Sales of Louisiana releases April catalog

The Equine Sales Co., of Louisiana has cataloged 80 prospects to its 2-year-olds in-training and horses of racing age sale on April 27, the sale company announced Tuesday. The auction will be held in Opelousas, La., near Evangeline Downs. A pre-sale under tack show will be held April 25.

“I think our quality has improved from last year’s inaugural 2-year-old sale, and both buyers and consignors will notice other improvements this year,” Foster Bridewell, sales director, said in a release. “We will have an electronic teletimer on site and will be posting videos of each horse online shortly after the breeze show, plus the sale will be streamed live.”

The average at the corresponding sale a year ago was $16,803 and the median, $11,500. The sale was topped by a Half Ours filly who sold for $69,000.
