Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana releases select yearling catalog

The catalog for the 2015 Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana select yearling sale is now available online with 188 horses on offer.

The third renewal of the one-day auction will be held Sept. 2 at the Equine Sales Co. Pavilion in Opelousas, La. This year’s catalog marks a 23 percent decrease from 2014, when 224 yearlings were included in the book.

“The young sire power in this year’s auction is quite impressive,” said Equine Sales Co. sales director Foster Bridewell. “We have a wide selection of yearlings from some of the most promising first- and second-crop sires in the region, plus plenty on offer from established sires. We also have yearlings by proven national sires as well, including Warrior’s Reward and Into Mischief.”

Horses that go through the ring during this year’s sale will be eligible for a 3-year-old stakes race for sale graduates at Evangeline Downs, which was announced last week. The inaugural running of the stakes, with separate divisions for both males and females, will debut in 2016 for a purse of $75,000 each. Graduates of this year’s sale will be eligible for the 2017 edition.

Stallions with their first yearlings in the catalog include Bullet Train, Calibrachoa, Dominus, Ide Like a Double, Redding Colliery, Rule, See Cee’s Reason, Speed Limit, Star Guitar, Surreptitiously, and Tight Grip.
