Equine Sales Co. of La. catalogs 224 horses for mixed sale

The Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana has cataloged 224 horses to its open yearling and mixed sale, to be held Sunday in Opelousas, La. The book is the largest in the three-year history of the auction. There were 10 supplements, including five yearlings by such stallions as Einstein and Songandaprayer.

“We are gratified to see how consignors have embraced this sale with a record number of consignments,” said Foster Bridewell, sales director for Equine Sales Co.

The catalog opens with 50 yearlings and moves into breeding-stock offerings and horses of racing age. There are a host of young stallions represented by offspring in the sale, among them Calibrachoa, Flashpoint, Honest Man, Redding Colliery, and Star Guitar.

“As usual, we have a strong selection of weanlings and yearlings by the top sires in Louisiana and around the region,” Bridewell said in a release. “This sale in particular has a robust catalog of offspring from the first and second crops of some exciting young stallions.”
