Equestricon to host Breeders' Cup post draw

This year’s post-position draw for the two-day Breeders’ Cup event in November at Churchill Downs in Louisville will be held at Equestricon, the fan convention that is scheduled to run the week prior to the Breeders’ Cup in Louisville, the organizers announced on Monday.

The draw for the 14 Breeders’ Cup races scheduled for Nov. 2-3 will be held on the Monday prior to the event, Oct. 29, in the main hall of the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, the organizers said. The draw will be open to all Equestricon attendees, and horsemen with Breeders’ Cup contenders will “enjoy enhanced hospitality” in a VIP Breeders’ Cup Lounge adjacent to the main stage, the organizers said.

This is the second year for Equestricon, which last year was held in August in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., in conjunction with the Saratoga Racecourse meet. The organizers of the event moved the date this year to capitalize on the location of the Breeders’ Cup this year in Kentucky.

Equestricon events are scheduled for Oct. 29 and Oct. 30. The events include discussion panels, workshops, seminars, and appearances by racing participants.
