In Equality looks headed to Risen Star
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – In Equality, third in the Jerome Stakes on Jan. 2, could make his next start in the Grade 2, $400,000 Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds on Feb. 20, trainer Leah Gyarmati said Thursday.
After making his first two starts on turf, In Equality won a maiden special weight race on dirt Dec. 13 and then came back to finish third, 6 3/4 lengths behind winner Flexibility, in the Grade 3, $200,000 Jerome Stakes.
The next race in the 3-year-old division in New York is the Grade 3 Withers Stakes on Jan. 30. Gyarmati plans to run the debut winner Adventist in that spot. Also, Gyarmati likes the additional time to the Risen Star for In Equality, who had only 20 days between his last two starts.
“If you run good and show you’re that kind of horse, then you can stay for the [Louisiana] Derby,” Gyarmati said.
