The Grade 1, $750,000 E.P. Taylor Stakes has been added to the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series as a “Win and You’re In” event. It becomes the fourth such Woodbine race to earn that distinction, along with the Woodbine Mile, Summer, and Natalma Stakes.   The new designation offers the E.P. Taylor winner a fees-paid berth into the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf on Nov. 1 at Del Mar, a race won by Taylor runner-up Moira last year.     Now a race in which Lasix will not be permitted, the E.P. Taylor will be run over 1 1/4 miles on the King’s Plate undercard on Aug. 16. After construction is completed on Woodbine’s main turf course in 2026, the race will move back to its traditional spot in September.  “This is an exciting moment for Woodbine and Canadian racing,” said Woodbine Entertainment CEO Michael Copeland. “The E.P. Taylor Stakes has long attracted top turf fillies and mares from around the world, and its inclusion in the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series further cements its status as a premier international event. We are proud to deepen our partnership with the Breeders’ Cup and continue showcasing world-class Thoroughbred racing at Woodbine.”  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
