Enticed possible for Champagne Stakes
ELMONT, N.Y. – Enticed already has duplicated his mother’s achievement by winning his debut by the same 1 3/4-length margin as she did seven years ago. His connections can only hope that Enticed continues to follow the blueprint of his mother, It’s Tricky, who became a three-time Grade 1 winner and earned more than $1.6 million.
Enticed won his debut last Monday at Saratoga, overcoming the rail post and a wet track to win rather handily. He most likely is headed to a stakes race next, possibly the Grade 1 Champagne at Belmont on Oct. 7.

“He surprised me,” said trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, who also trained It’s Tricky. “I thought he would need a run from the 1 hole on a wet track. I was surprised he won. Talented horse, pleased he ran so well. He’s a big horse. You could see how he jumped up and down when the dirt hit him. Great effort, nice horse, hope he follows in his mother’s footsteps.”
Enticed is owned and was bred by Godolphin Racing, which also owned It’s Tricky. Enticed ran six furlongs in 1:12.14 and earned a 67 Beyer Speed Figure.
