Grade 1 winner Englishman will stand at Lane's End Farm, where he has a number of connections, upon the conclusion of his racing career.
The 3-year-old Englishman, by Maxfield, races for Lee and Susan Searing's C R K Stable. Their Grade 1 winner Honor A. P. also stands at the Farish family's Lane's End, which has made a major investment in this year's 3-year-old class. The farm will also eventually stand Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Golden Tempo, owned by Phipps Stable and St. Elias Stable.
Both Englishman and Golden Tempo are trained by Cherie DeVaux, whose husband, David Ingordo, is a bloodstock adviser and agent for Lane's End.
“I am thrilled to add Englishman to our roster of future stallions,” Lane’s End’s Bill Farish said in a release issued Tuesday. “He has impressed us since his stunning debut, and we have been watching him closely ever since. He combines brilliant speed with exceptional good looks and is by the very promising young Darley stallion, Maxfield.”
Englishman has won 3 of 4 career starts. After maiden and allowance-level wins by a combined 14 3/4 lengths, he was second to Crude Velocity while stretching out to a one-turn mile in the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile on the Kentucky Derby undercard.
Five weeks later, back at seven furlongs, he crushed a field including Crude Velocity in the Grade 1 Woody Stephens at Saratoga, rolling by 5 3/4 lengths and stopping the clock in 1:20.40. Officially, that equaled the track record set in 1978 by Darby Creek Road when times were recorded in even fifths. Englishman earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 115 for the effort.
The release issued Tuesday by Lane's End indicated that Englishman “is expected to continue racing into 2027.”
